This faithful classic Royal Airforce aviator jacket is produced in the EC from select sheepskin. The extra soft leather offers maximum comfort. The skins are characterized by high density wool, best elasticity and minimal weight. The weight per jacket, depending on the size, about 2 kg only. Classic cut with two additional outer zip pockets, zippers on the sleeves, two inside leather pockets. Wind slit under the zipper, straps on the collar and at the waist. Antique- brown finish.

History of the RAF Flying Jacket

The Royal Air Force mod. 1940 jacket is the 1940 version of the Irvin jacket, created in 1938, by the Canadian parachutist Leslie Leroy Irvin. This jacket has acted in several versions during the Second World War but the most successful and most sought as is this mod. 1940. In fact, of all existing aviation jackets in the world, it is widely recognized that the 1940 RAF jacket stands by far as the most successful, the most beautiful, the most practical in winter, the most functional and most coveted.

It is, moreover, the most luxurious and most expensive aviation jacket .

It was worn by all British pilots in WWII. It is known that during the war and after it, as long as this jacket was in service before the advent of pressurized cockpits today, British pilots, wherever they were flying, were assiduously courted by other air forces pilots to sell their jackets or swap them. There is, however, no known case in history in which a British pilot to be accepted to alienate this jacket.

Although the original model did not have outside pockets, for reasons of functionality the actual jacket has pockets. For the same reason , the jacket also has two inner pockets.

Passioned by aviation and fascinated by the fabulous history of the jackets with very great effort and after extensive documentary, technical and logistics researches, our supplier was able to recreate, with unprecedented fidelity, this model in Romania, out of Romanian materials.

The jacket is made from young sheepskin (antique napalan) . The selection of this natural material is being done thoroughly and carefully in order to obtain a product complying the military standards of the reference era, with a select and authentic vintage air, and able to give the proper special distinction to its holder, without making any compromise to comfort and functionality.
