Portable, easy to use traffic awareness for tablets and smartphones. FLARM and ADS-B receiver in one device. SkyEcho 2 shows aircraft with FLARM or ADS-B transmission in compatible navigation apps.* Simple, wireless cockpit use.

FLARM and ADS-B features:

  • FLARM compatible receiver. No FLARM transmission.
  • ADS-B receiver for 1090 MHz and 978 MHz standard. Additional 1090 MHz ADS-B transmission for use in the UK only. The user is responsible for the deactivation of ADS-B out in other countries.

More featurs:

  • GPS with SBAS for an accurate position
  • Barometric altimeter for more accurate traffic warnings
  • WiFi 02.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz for up to four simultaneous connections
  • Up to 12 h operating time with one charge.

SkyEcho 2 is compatible with the following navigation apps, among others*: SkyDemon, ForeFlight, Airmate, EasyVFR, Sky-Map.

Empfehlenswert

Einstellung komplikakationslos, ADS-B Empfang und GPS sehr gut, ADS-B out in Deutschland verboten -warum??? Aber dafür kann ja das Gerät nichts… Sehr gute Aufbewahrungsbox, sehr gute Befestigung mit Saugfuß

Gut.

Ich nutze SkyEcho2 in Verbindung mit SkyDemon.

Installation: Die Erstinstallation ist schnell erledigt. Das SkyEcho2 baut ein eigenes wifi auf,mit dem man sein Tablet verbindet. Darüber greift man auf eine Konfigurationsseite des SkyEcho2 zu, auf der man ein paar Grundeinstellungen erledigt. Man benötigt hierzu den ICAO Hex Code des Flugzeugs. Hat man den gerade nicht zur Hand, findet man ihn möglicherweise auch im Internet, zB auf Flightradar. Die Anbringung mit dem soliden Saugnapf ist sehr gut.

Die Verbindung mit SkyDemon funktioniert schnell und bislang (erst eine Stunde getestet) zuverlässig. Zu diesem Thema gibt es auf der SkyDemon Website auch ein Video.

Der einzige Schwachpunkt ist die FLARM Funktion. Diese kann nicht senden, sondern nur empfangen. In SkyDemon werden die FLARM Signale aber nur dargestellt, wenn man eine Lizenz kauft. Die Jahresgebühr beträgt Stand 05/2025 €42. Das sieht erstmal wenig aus, macht aber in 10 Jahren schon €420, künftige Preiserhöhungen noch nicht berücksichtigt. Das sind also allein in 10 Jahren mehr als 50% des aktuellen Kaufpreises des SkyEcho2.

Funktioniert top

Ich verwende das SkyEcho 2 mit SkyDemon. Verkehrsanzeige und Warnung funktionieren gut. Für FLARM ist in ein SkyDemon eine Zusatzlizenz erforderlich; kostet ca. € 35,00. Es lohnt sich aber, insbesondere an Tagen mit viel Segelflugbetrieb. Vor der Inbetriebnahme ist eine Konfiguration erforderlich; ist ja auch verständlich, sonst würde man bei aktiviertem Transponder ständig vor sich selbst gewarnt.

Grundsätzlich ein nützliches Gerät. Erkennt nicht alle anderen LFZ; ist damit aber nicht allein. Mein zuvor genutztes Power Flarm erkannte auch nicht alle. Zusammen mit FIS ergibt sich eine gute Sicherheit. Schlecht ist, dass es es kein plug and play system ist. Foreflight funktioniert, Sky Demon gar nicht. Bei dem Preis hätte man sich ein kundenfreundlicheres System gewünscht. Dennoch empfehlenswert

+ ADS-B Traffic auf dem IPad (ForeFlight) sofort sichtbar.
+ Konfiguration sehr einfach. Nur Transponder ID muss ausgelesen werden.
+ Guter Saugfuß und schnelle Installation möglich.
+ Stabile Ausführung


- Nur ein Flugzeug konfigurierbar
- einfaches Web Interface
- keine App verfügbar
- UK Sendefunktion in UK getestet - leider Überschlag vom ADS-B Sender in Headset (Bose) hörbar - Klick störend - 25 W im Cockpit ohne Zusatzantenne nicht zufriedenstellen.
- Keine Erkennung von Transponder Signalen von fremden Flugzeugen.
